A significant highlight is the inclusion of premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who had been recovering from back spasms sustained during the Sydney Test against Australia. Agarkar noted that Bumrah's fitness will be closely monitored leading up to the tournament.

The batting lineup is fortified with stalwarts such as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, while young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal earns his maiden ODI call-up, showcasing the selectors' intent to infuse fresh talent. The all-rounder department is robust, featuring Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja, providing depth and versatility to the squad.

In the bowling contingent, the return of Mohammed Shami, who last played an ODI in the 2023 Men's Cricket World Cup, bolsters the pace attack alongside Arshdeep Singh. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav also makes a comeback after recovering from a groin injury sustained in October.
